Several well preserved Ward Wellington Ward-designed houses have recently been on the market in Syracuse. Notably, the 1919 Frank Collins House at 2201 East Genesee Street is for sale (and may now be already sold). Collins was owner of the F. P. Collins Paint Co. and was a previous client of Ward who had designed an earlier Collins residence at 423 Euclid Avenue. This new and house on East Genesee was/is bigger, more ornate, and at a more prominent location.
Recently we had a chance to tour the now-empty house and to marvel at the excellent preservation of many of the original features, and especially the fine Mercer tile fireplace and the many Keck windows. Here is a peek inside ....
